My husband uses this net all of the time. He thinks it is a great practice tool and has helped with his chipping game when he is on the golf course. His friends love to play with it, too, and they have contests with it. It is challenging, but fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golf Chipping basket, February 9, 2008

We ordered this and when it came, the overlay with the numbered holes was missing, but Amazon was great, took it back and paid all shipping costs, sent us a new one which was complete. The chipping basket is great fun indoors or outside, and can be set up at different angles depending on how far away you want to chip from. We’ve used it at several parties indoors, hitting whiffle golf balls off a carpet and scoring points depending on which numbered hole it goes in. It’s a fun game, and also a good practice tool for your golf game. Would definitely recommend it.

Sharper Image Golf Ball Finder Glasses

Amazon Review of Sharper Image Golf Ball Finder Glasses

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharper Image Golfball Finder Glasses, January 17, 2010
By ‘Snow’ “snowball_87″

This item was my husband’s favorite Christmas gift.
It arrived in a timely manner and came with complete instructions that stressed:
“These glasses are ONLY to be used to search for lost golf balls!!”
The glasses are attractive and should not be thought to be sunglasses used when driving a vehicle.
They are what they are …golf ball finding glasses and Sharper Image Golf Ball Finder Glasses that delighted my husband!!!

Cool Idea From Arizona Company Is A Winner!
Years ago on a hot summer day, Deborah Vinci of Scottsdale, Arizona was golfing and golfing well. She then went to re-apply her lip protection and a large chunk of it broke off and went onto her lips. Why did this occur? Because the extreme Arizona heat had melted the product, rendering it useless.

That’s when the Cool-it Caddy™ concept was born. Deborah questioned why there wasn’t a product that she could put her lipstick into and have it protected and also be able to conveniently throw it into her golf bag or purse.

She then began the extensive process of designing a bag that golfers, as well as outdoor enthusiasts, could use to safely store heat sensitive products (cosmetics, health care items, protein bars, etc).

“I wanted to design a bag that served a distinct purpose, but was also high quality and stylish looking. Incorporating the cooling system into the bag itself was the key component to achieving that goal, “Vinci explained. “The only other way I know to carry heat-sensitive items, including medications, is in a bulky ice chest or cooler, and personally, I’d rather look like I was golfing, not camping. Plus contents stowed inside can survive up to five hours of extreme heat.”

The Cool-It Caddy incorporates an integrated chemical coolant with lightweight insulation layers for freeze-and-go portability. That means ChapStick®, lipstick, eye drops, heat-sensitive medicines and snacks maintain their integrity under even the hottest conditions. What’s more, its sleek design makes the Cool-It Caddy small and convenient enough to slip inside purses, fanny packs, golf bags, backpacks and diaper bags.

When the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010 took place in New York City last September, TrendHunter Magazine was on location in search of upcoming trends. They commented that “Spring 2010 accessories are channeling elements of the exotic.” That means style-conscious women across the country will find themselves “investing in something snaky like python or crocodile.” The recently debuted Cool-It Caddy is one step ahead of these trends.

Available in black woven, pink faux crocodile and zebra micro fiber designs, the Cool-It Caddy sports a fashion-forward edge. But unlike other trends that are in one season and out the rest, this chic feminine clutch will serve women for years to come. That’s because it’s not only fashionable; it’s also functional.

About Cool-It Caddy
Manufactured by Vinci Designs, LLC, the Cool-It Caddy is a high-quality fashionable clutch bag. Uniquely designed by Deborah Vinci, it implements a plurality of insulation layers and a chemical coolant to keep medicines, makeup and snacks icy cool under even the hottest outdoor conditions. Its patent-pending blueprint makes this cosmetic sports bag a must-have for every outdoor enthusiast.

Shoulder Rehabilitation Update

I have worked out for 2+ weeks to prepare myself for the golf season and I’m now reporting on my progress. My workout regimen consisted of strengthening and stretching exercises for my entire body, but my concentration was on the rehabilitation of my shoulder.

I am strengthening the muscles around my rotator cuff. I used the rubber tubing and 3 pound weights as discussed in my “Is it Time for Golf?” post to strengthen the shoulder and bicep muscles.

I also do modified push-ups since my shoulder cannot take my full body weight. I stand about 3 feet from the couch and lean my outstretched body and arms to grab the back of the couch. I make sure my feet won’t slip as I lean in. I lower my chest towards the couch with bent arms and push up until my arms are straight, making sure my elbows are not locked. I started with one rep of 15 and increased the amount of reps as I could stand the pain in my shoulder, until reaching 3 reps of 15 modified push-ups. As the pain decreases, I’m able to stand further back, about 3-1/2 feet away from the couch, and this allows my arms to push up a little more of my body weight. I prefer to push up standing rather than on my knees because my knees are bad.

I am making good progress and my shoulder is indeed improving.

If you try these exercises and they aggravate your shoulder, it is probably still too inflamed. You should give your shoulder a rest, take 2 Aleve and call me in the morning.

Darn It Snowed Today!

Well, this IS Chicago! I had a feeling Spring wasn’t here yet, but that’s o.k., because I’m still working on my shoulder. If the weather permitted, I might have gone out there and re-injured myself. I’m still going to give myself at least two weeks of working out and will keep you posted on my progress.

Is It Time For Golf?

It’s been warm this week – so nice and sunny in Chicago! Is Springtime in the air? I really want to hit the golf course!

It’s on my mind now, so I need to get started with some special stretch and strengthening exercises to loosen up those off-season scarcely used muscles. I’ve been so busy sitting in my office writing, that I’ve put off my walking and work-out schedule for a few months now – and I feel it. If you’re like me, don’t just jump into the game of golf. Play it safe and ease into it by spending a couple of weeks to work on those golf muscles.

Some golf experts say women don’t have to do strength exercises, but rather exercises aimed at rotation. While I agree that rotation exercises are extremely important, I also believe that working with weights builds strength to increase stamina and empower us to hit the ball farther. Last year I didn’t work out with weights before the golf season and I hurt my rotator cuff. I’ve also learned that injury to the rotator cuff is fairly common due to repetitive motions. It actually got progressively worse and is still not completely healed. It takes a while for it to heal because the shoulder doesn’t receive a lot of blood flow. The key to repair is to let it rest – which I did during the off season. It still bothers me, though, so I’ll need to start some therapy. Weight-lifting exercises that bring the weights toward the body and do not hurt, such as bicep curls will help strength the biceps. Rotator cuff exercises can be done by standing next to a closed door with arm bent at the waist close to the body and pulling a piece of rubber tubing (which is looped around the knob), across the tummy. Start with 1 set of 10 exercises, more if there’s no pain. If there’s pain, try to increase the number of sets as shoulder pain lessens. These exercises should be done every day to strengthen the shoulder. It’s a good idea to work on the muscles in a direction other than that taken while swinging the club to balance the muscles. Aerobic exercises will increase the amount of oxygen to improve healing in the rotator cuff as well as any other injured area.

Along with the arm strengthening, crunches will strengthen the core and is the foundation of stamina in any sport. Lunges, reverse lunges and squats work the legs and help strengthen them to alleviate strain on the back. The exercise tubing I already mentioned can be used (looped around a hook at the top of a door) while you simulate the golf swing, which will work out those ‘golf muscles’ while strengthening them at the same time.

I’m going to start my workout regimen tomorrow and I’ll let you know when my rotator cuff improves.

Female Golf Accessories

Looking for female golf accessories?  If you’re anything like me, I like to look stylish on the golf course; I think most women do.  In shopping around in stores and online, I have found ladies golf clothing and accessories to be quite expensive.  In general, you pay for design and quality.  In this economy, I don’t have a lot of disposable income, so I have to shop around for the best value.

There are so many cute, feminine-looking golf accessories on the market today, and I just love to shop for them.  Nowadays, more and more female golfers are being shown in pro golf tours, and they set the standard by dressing very stylishly.  Manufacturers have stepped up their game to make more choices available to the young women on the scene now. Of course, not all golf stores sell very original-looking ladies golf clothing and accessories, and the ones that do, sell them for exorbitant prices!

It IS possible to dress stylishly on a budget!

And what about shoes?  Golf shoe-makers are now designing golf shoes that can be worn on the street as well as on the golf course, and that includes golf sandals!

I’m pretty frugal and I think I’ve gotten some really good deals since I’ve started golfing.  I shop at outlet stores when we go out of town (we tend to find better deals in the warm climate States), shop in town and online.  I started finding some very nice things online, which is a very good way to comparison shop.
